The Axial SCX24 is one of those platforms that can remain a compact trail crawler or become the starting point for an almost completely custom build. Why the MEUS Racing SCX24 Range Is Interesting
The MEUS Racing catalogue goes considerably further than cosmetic accessories. 1. MEUS SCX24 V1 Isokinetic Axles — A Strong First Performance Upgrade
For a crawler that still resembles a conventional SCX24 but needs significantly more steering capability, the MEUS V1 Isokinetic axle set is one of the most logical places to start.
MEUS specifies its three-section isokinetic CVD design for a maximum steering angle of 52 degrees. The axle assembly uses aluminium construction with brass steering knuckles, while the front axle is deliberately considerably heavier than the rear. MEUS lists approximately 85 g for the front axle and 35 g for the rear.
That weight distribution is important. On a crawler, adding mass low and towards the front can help the front tyres maintain contact while climbing, although builders should still avoid turning the vehicle into an unnecessarily heavy machine.
The standard arrangement uses 2-14T gearing, while the package also includes a 2-16T rear differential gear that can be used to create rear underdrive. MEUS also offers a route to front overdrive using different gearing.

Who should choose them?
They make most sense for a crawler where turning radius, front-end grip and technical rock performance matter more than maintaining the narrowest possible scale stance.
They are also a much more structural upgrade than changing wheels or adding brass accessories individually, because steering geometry, axle weight and drivetrain gearing can all be addressed from the same assembly.
2. MEUS SCX24 V3 Isokinetic Axles — For a Much Wider Performance Build
The V3 takes the same general idea considerably further.
MEUS specifies the V3 front and rear axles as being 9 mm wider on each side, creating an 18 mm overall width increase. That is not a subtle change on a 1:24 crawler, so these are better regarded as components for a deliberate high-performance build rather than a simple replacement for stock axles.
The V3 retains the claimed 52-degree maximum steering angle but introduces a revised differential design. The front axle uses brass steering knuckles and a brass differential cover, while the rear uses a lighter nylon slider-style differential cover. MEUS lists approximately 77 g for the front assembly and 30 g for the rear.
The result is a clear design philosophy: keep useful mass towards the front while reducing unnecessary rear weight, and combine that with a very wide stance for stability.

V1 or V3?
The V1 is the easier recommendation for a builder who wants a substantial axle and steering upgrade without radically altering the proportions of the crawler. The V3 makes more sense when maximum stability, steering performance and a deliberately wide crawler stance are part of the build from the beginning.
3. MEUS MB24 Body — The Scale-Build Route
Not every SCX24 build needs to become a competition-style crawler. The MB24 takes the opposite route by making the body and frame part of the project.
The MEUS MB24 combines an ABS body shell with nylon and carbon-fibre frame components. It is designed around a 132 mm wheelbase and includes a lighting set and spare wheel.
MEUS lists compatibility with several SCX24 configurations including the Bronco, JLU, B-17 and C10, but wheelbase differences matter. In particular, MEUS notes that a Deadbolt installation requires changes to the front links and driveshaft because the MB24 is based around the C10-style wheelbase.
This is exactly why body conversions should be approached as a system rather than treated as decorative shells. Wheelbase, tyre clearance, links, driveshafts, electronics location and suspension travel all affect whether the finished crawler both looks correct and performs properly.

Best use case
The MB24 is the strongest choice here for builders who value scale appearance, trail use and the satisfaction of creating a complete vehicle rather than simply maximising obstacle performance.
4. MEUS MD24 Titanium LCG Chassis — The Advanced Build
The MD24 is where the MEUS SCX24 ecosystem becomes considerably more specialised.
MEUS builds the chassis from TC4 titanium and uses a 20-degree angled layout with a POM skid plate. The drivetrain position is designed to improve clearance and transmission geometry, while MEUS recommends double-bent lower links to complement the chassis.
There is also an MD24 Dig version. In a crawler, dig allows the rear drivetrain to be disconnected and locked while the front axle continues to drive, which can dramatically reduce turning radius and change how the vehicle pivots around obstacles.
However, this is not a universal bolt-on function. MEUS explicitly notes that the dig system relies on the behaviour of the rear axle's worm-drive arrangement and that some SCX24 axle configurations may not lock correctly when the rear driveshaft is disconnected.
MEUS also gives specific guidance regarding motor, transmission and servo positioning. Its brushless transmission can be used with suitable 1806 or 1621 motors, but component placement and suspension compression must be checked carefully.

Who is it for?
This is not the first upgrade I would fit to a mostly stock SCX24. It makes much more sense once the crawler is being designed as a complete system and the builder has already decided on wheelbase, axles, transmission, motor, electronics and suspension geometry.
5. MEUS 132 mm LCG Carbon-Fibre Chassis Kit — A More Direct Custom-Build Route
For builders who want an LCG conversion without immediately moving into the complexity of the MD24 Dig architecture, MEUS also offers a 132 mm carbon-fibre chassis package.
The kit combines an LCG carbon-fibre frame with bent stainless-steel links, front and rear driveshafts and an adjustable magnetic body mount. The transmission-forward arrangement is intended to move mass towards the front while the bent links provide additional clearance beneath the vehicle.
The important figure here is the 132 mm wheelbase. This is not a universal chassis that can be installed without considering the rest of the build.

6. MEUS SCX24 Brushless Transmission — Building the Drivetrain Around the Motor
A brushless conversion is another area where buying components independently without checking dimensions can quickly create compatibility problems.
The MEUS SCX24 brushless transmission uses an aluminium housing with hardened-steel internal gears and is designed for motors using a 2 mm output shaft. MEUS lists compatibility with 1806 and 1621 motor formats but specifically states that the transmission is not designed for 2204 motors.
The transmission itself weighs approximately 18.5 g and uses a compact integrated layout intended to keep the motor and gearbox assembly low in the chassis.
MEUS also lists compatibility with the Hobbywing QuicRun Mini24 1621 combination, giving builders a useful reference point when planning a complete electronics package.

When does brushless make sense?
The reason to move to brushless is not simply to chase speed. In a crawler, low-speed control, efficiency, compact packaging and the ability to build an electronics system around the intended use can matter far more than outright top speed.
For that reason, the gearbox should be chosen together with the motor and ESC rather than treated as an isolated upgrade.
7. MEUS MS-24 Engine Sound Simulator — A Different Kind of SCX24 Upgrade
The MS-24 is interesting because it targets realism rather than mechanical crawler performance.
MEUS lists up to ten built-in engine sounds and five built-in whistle sounds, together with engine and Bluetooth operating modes. The module measures approximately 40 × 30.5 × 22 mm, weighs 34 g and supports a 6–12 V input.
On a 1:24 build, however, the physical size of the module is only part of the installation question. The sound system requires separate receiver channel connections, including CH2 and CH3 functionality.
That means builders should confirm compatibility with their exact receiver, ESC and transmitter configuration before ordering rather than assuming that every stock SCX24 electronics package will provide the necessary interfaces.

Which MEUS SCX24 Upgrade Should You Buy First?
There is no single answer because these components solve different problems.
For a technical crawler
I would start with axle and steering performance. The V1 Isokinetic axles offer a substantial change while remaining easier to integrate into a conventional build than the much wider V3 set. Wheels and tyres can then be selected around the resulting width, grip and weight distribution.
For a scale trail build
The MB24 body is the more logical foundation. Establish the wheelbase and body package first, then choose links, driveshafts, wheels and electronics that fit the finished layout.
For an advanced custom crawler
Start with the chassis architecture. The MD24 or 132 mm LCG carbon chassis changes where the major components sit, so buying axles, motor, transmission and electronics before deciding on the chassis can create unnecessary compromises later.
For a brushless conversion
Plan the motor, transmission and ESC as one system. Confirm motor dimensions and shaft size before choosing the gearbox.
Avoid the “Upgrade Everything” Trap
Micro crawlers respond strongly to relatively small changes in mass and geometry. That makes them rewarding to modify, but it also means that an expensive collection of individually impressive components does not automatically produce a better crawler.
A heavy axle, brass wheels, large tyres, long shocks and an LCG chassis can all have legitimate uses. Installed without a coherent goal, however, they can also create excess weight, tyre interference, unstable suspension geometry or drivetrain stress.
The better approach is to define the build first:
- scale trail crawler;
- technical rock crawler;
- wide high-stability crawler;
- lightweight LCG build;
- brushless performance build;
- or full custom project.
Once that decision is made, the MEUS catalogue becomes much easier to navigate.
